Great Moor Topper Open
Photos now available in thegallery 27 Toppers took part in what turned out to be a windy and exciting day.
The first race kicked off just a few minutes short of 11.00am using the new start sequence. The wind stayed mostly level and the rain did not look like it was going to come. The beat was mostly favouring the left and right hand sides, no going up the middle. Most of the sailors tended to go up high on the reaches but this did not help, I decided to go low and got at least 1 boat per leg. Richard Valentine worked his way up the fleet to finish 1st.
For the second the wind was more or less the same. William Espiner got a good start and managed to finish 1st, not that far ahead of the 2 pressurising boats, Kyle P and Tom W.
After lunch the wind had got up, peaking at struggling point. By the 1st lap the rain was pouring down and a hand full of the top 10 retired.
Just before the last race the wind was down to a low breeze, but got up as the 5-minute gun went. The wind was the same as the 1st race but sometimes going to nothing round the marks (must be the trees). Paternoster finished the race in 1st but Richard Valentine had 2 bullets and two 2nd's so one the open..
