East Zone Topper training at Wroxham Broad

As the topper east zone squad started its first training weekend the winds were a lot lower than forecast. After our briefing and welcome we set out onto the water (whilst our parents set of to the famous Roys of Wroxham) for some short sharp windward -leeward races and a lot of roll tacking and gybing practice.

After our long lunch break the wind picked up a bit and we went out again for some small triangular course racing. Later that evening several of us went back to our b+bs for an early night whilst the rest of us decided to stay for what turned out to be some pretty damp fireworks!

On the Sunday the wind had picked up considerably and we set of onto the water to practice different starting techniques which we continued to do all day except the final mini race that was a 2 lap “thriller” with an amazing amount of collisions for a “non competitive” race!

I think we’d all like to thank Collin, our coaches, and the Norfolk broads YC for a great weekend.
