The South East Topper Zone Squad at the week end
The South East Topper Zone Squad, plus some guests had an extra weekends training with Dave Cockerill and Paul Lewis.
On 31st Nov/ Dec 1st. The sailors experienced a wide range of conditions from a light Saturday when they practised backwards and stand up sailing to very blustery conditions during the club racing on Sunday morning.
A great time was had by all and was capped by Island Barn being presented with their Champion Club status and a fantastic lunch.
All the group took part in the Morning Topper Race and Ben McVeigh demonstrated skills learnt with the Topper Youth Squad to win by over a leg from local senior sailor Gareth Griffiths in 2nd place. The non-Zone Squad sailors went out in the wild blustery conditions for the Lunchtime Handicap and this time National Squaddie Andy Fielder showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the Topper fleet. He was followed over the line by fellow Squad member Emma Porteous and they were also 1st and 2nd on Handicap.
